Literature Text

What's past has passed, or so it seems.
The present, dark and bleak.
We know not what the future holds,
Until we hear it speak.

And speak it shall, before too long,
The narrative begins.
A story told of righted wrong,
To wash away our sins.

Or so the future claims to be,
This joyous, happy place.
But I still hear the echoes ring,
Of past, and empty space.

Of things once had, that now are gone.
Of things we longed to do.
Of people loved, that now are lost,
And of destruction, too.

And even though we try to run,
It seems as though it's so.
The poem that now foretells our lives,
Was written long ago.
Written as the preface to the collection of my poetry that I hope to eventually publish, when I have more poems and a more diverse subject matter. If I had to give it an actual title, it would probably be "The Future Speaks, the Past Echoes". It's actually my first poem that isn't about my lost love in some way O_O omg progress in my subject matter diversity.

You're really good with meter and rhyme. Especially since you can say something poignant without butterflies and rainbows popping up to take control. This approaches genius... especially given the subject matter.
